January Labs: Ingredients-Driven Skincare

In an industry full of thousands of brands with stunning products, packaging, and enticing marketing campaigns, it can be tough to decipher which brands deliver real results. Look no further than January Labs, an ingredients-driven skincare brand that is accessible to a large pocket of consumers. January Olds, the creator and founder, believes in a “less is more” technique with skincare and carefully edits the ingredients to eliminate unnecessary elements.

I am a HUGE fan of lactic acid – I love how it creates a smooth, bright canvas and even skin tone. Many of the products in this collection contain lactic acid and are so brilliantly formulated with other ingredients to bring highly efficacious results. I must add that the results are usually instantly noticeable. January Labs developed lactic acid formulas paired so carefully with retinol, niacinamide, vitamin C, and other essential nutrients to promote an instant glow and smoother skin texture. This line also reintroduces ingredients such as witch hazel, helping reduce inflammation, redness, and other skin sensitivities. They are all perfectly formulated to create a simple, yet effective routine for all skin types. Below are some of my favorite products from January’s line, and YES, they are in my daily arsenal!

My Current Favorite January Labs Products

Restorative Tonic Mist: This is THE mist of all face mists and the most important piece of the puzzle to reach the “January Labs Glow.” (just take a peak at their Instagram to watch the stunning founder, January Olds, spritz herself throughout the day…the glow is insane). Spray at the beginning of your routine before other skincare products, after makeup to set your products, and/or throughout the day to reactivate powerful ingredients in your skincare. I keep this puppy in my purse for a couple spritzes throughout the day. I am obsessed with the glow it instantly delivers.

Main ingredients: aloe extract, witch hazel, sodium PCA, calendula extracts, and licorice

Daily Brightening Tonic: If you are a fan of BR P50, then I guarantee that you will love this toner. They are so similar, but the daily brightening tonic is less irritating on the skin and more cost effective for most gals. It very gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin, while regulating the PH level prior to application of other actives in your routine. Oh, and the GLOW this delivers is unreal! I recommend use just a few times a week.

Main ingredients: aloe, lactic acid, witch hazel, fruit and tea extracts, sodium PCA, and glycerin

Triple Active Reclaiming Serum: Hands down, one of my favorite over the counter retinols on the market. This gentle retinol shows immediate results and feels incredibly nourishing and hydrating with each use. If you have sensitive skin or have had previous negative reactions to retinol, this is your go-to product. I have worked my way to using this product almost every night of the week, because it is that gentle. This retinol serum has a genius blend of niacinamide and vitamin C to deliver powerful results in one bottle. It targets fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, skin texture, and the promotion of collagen. Magic in a bottle right here!

Main ingredients: retistar retinol, niacinamide, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Sodium Ascorbate, lactic acid, and gorgonian extract

Advanced Eye Technology: A peptide-rich eye cream that targets all concerns around the most delicate skin on our face: dark circles, puffiness, and especially fine lines and wrinkles. The gel-like cream is packed with patented peptides and stem cell extract to smooth fine lines within days. It doesn’t hurt that Vogue has named it one of the 10 Best Eye Creams two years in a row!

Main ingredients: Regu-age peptide, beta-glucan, tri-peptide anti-wrinkle compound, pro-collagen amplifier with stem cell extract, and hyaluronic acid

Retexturizing Night Cream: Get ready to transform your skin overnight with this magical cream. Packed with the highest concentration of lactic acid you can purchase without a prescription, it promotes cell regeneration and leaves the skin smoother and softer than ever before. Every time I use this cream, my skin still feels insanely soft and plump twenty-four hours later! This cream is packed with peptides and nutrients to build and protect our skin barrier when we repair our skin at night. I could not possibly say enough wonderful things about this product. It is a superstar!

Main ingredients: lactic acid, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, fruit extracts, peptides, and beta glucan

Moisture Renew Cream (formerly Moisture Renew Mask): This is my go-to gal for overnight hydration masking. This cream is blended with powerful ingredients to hydrate and plump the skin. Additionally, the Vitamin E in this formula is excellent for fighting free radicals (think blue light at night or pollution and UV rays during the day). Overall, this is excellent to repair our moisture barrier and can be applied over both the day or night cream if your skin feels particularly dry.

Main ingredients: squalene, vitamin E, shea butter, lactic acid, and green tea extract
