How to Keep Your Skin Hydrated at the End of Summer
Whether you live in the Texas heat, cool and sunny California, or dry Colorado, dry skin often sneaks up on us by the end of summer. A combination of harsh sun exposure, cooled indoor air, and pool days are just a few of the many culprits that are contributing to your dry skin these past few months. Rather than missing out on all of the summer fun, we are giving you a guide on how to maintain hydration toward the end of summer.
Step 1: Add a hydrating serum into your morning and nighttime skincare routines. Products like the Environ Seriénce Night Serum or Circcell Abo Face Serum have a soft, silky texture to provide hydration deep into the skin.
Step 2: Apply a light mist regularly throughout the day. Just a few sprays of January Lab’s Restorative Tonic Mist every few hours helps keep the skin hydrated, healthy, and glowing. This mist will also reactivate the ingredients from your mornings skincare routine.
Step 3: Switch to a milky or cream cleanser. Foam cleansers may be a favorite for some, but they often strip our skin of its natural oils. Cream cleansers are just what your dry, summer skin needs. Circcell Mandarin Cleansing Milk is a great option to keep your skin soft and supple, while also providing essential moisturizing elements like botanical oils.
Step 4: Try not to over-exfoliate. Yes, it is true that exfoliators are important in ridding your face of dead skin. However, over-exfoliating leaves the skin compromised. Two times a week of exfoliation is usually the right amount. Of course, everyone’s skin is different and you may require more than twice a week – but it is suggested to exfoliate gently and without anything too abrasive or potent when in the sun!
Step 5: Use a reliable moisturizer! This may seem intuitive, but don’t underestimate the importance of your daily moisturizer to seal in all of your hydrating products. The moisturizer keeps all of the hydration in the skin and protects your skin barrier from outside aggressors during the day and at night.
Step 6: Add some masks into your routine. Decree SOS Sheet Masks and Exquisite Dual Hydration Masks are a super fun and easy way to rejuvenate your dry skin. Applying one for just 20 minutes after you cleanse your skin can leave you with plumper, more hydrated skin. You can use a mask in the morning, add sunscreen, and look as though you just had a facial – they’re really that good!
Step 7: Don’t forget to stay hydrated! The amount of water you consume has a direct impact on your skin, so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and nourishing your body with hydrating fruits.
